Round 2

So I tweaked the top a bit… I think I’m maybe enjoying it a bit more because it’s really nice to see it come together in something I wouldn’t be embarrased to wear.  :D  I re-purposed the corset piercings for this top and I like how that turned out.  If there’s a way to fit those suckers onto something I will because they really are one of the things I’m most proud of even though their reception was pretty awful lol.  So it’s nice to make them into something with more wearability.  I’m still working on the textures and shading and I’m not super happy with them yet.. right now it kinda looks like it’s been washed a 1000 times and is pretty thread bare. I also tried different folds in this version and I think they may be a little too pronounced. Anyhoo, onto the pic.

Random Rants and Such

So I thought I’d sit down and give clothing another spin in Photoshop today. No matter how often I try it, I still hate it. I should upgrade to CS4 because I’ve been hearing that you can paint directly onto the 3D avatar mesh. If it indeed does that, holy crap, that would be awesome.. matching up seams from head to torso and torso to lower would be so much easier. At least in theory.. I’m sure it’s far more complicated than I think. Maybe I’ll download the trial first. At any rate, here’s the shirt I came up with today.  It’s terribly basic but at least the seams matched up.

I have to admit, my interest in SL has been waning as of late so I’m trying to come up with things to draw me back in.. like torturing myself to make clothes. My little shop is just becoming fail city.. I really don’t sell enough stuff to have to deal with the sheer volume of asshole that keeps coming my way. I think if I even turned a profit I’d be a lot more willing to work with people but holy crap, I can’t even give stuff away these days and yet people still complain! Argh. So that’s really wearing thin on my patience and it’s pretty much ruining my good time whenever I log in. That’s the main reason behind my infrequent SL appearances. Given the option of what to play in my free time, I’d rather fire up WoW and shoot someone in the face than have to kiss some jerk’s ass so they don’t go off on me.

And I’ve got glow ghost issues… again. *sigh*

On the upside, I found a really good sushi place nearby!

Posemaker Challenge – Imperial Elegance

I love poses and I love posemakers.  It’s amazing how a pose can really drive home the feelings you want to capture in a picture.   I also love poses because well, SL doesn’t exactly have the most natural or attractive default poses.  I, like so many other bloggers, fail to credit my poses all the time.. but I do try!  So I had to take Achariya’s Posemaker Challenge so I could highlight some of my favorite posemakers.  So to kick off this challenge, I’m going to spotlight a posemaker who I don’t think gets nearly the attention she deserves, Sai Pennell of Imperial Elegance.  I’ve liked her poses since I first set foot into her shop and I think her poses keep getting better and better.  Her fashion poses are great, I like that they can be cute and sexy all at the same time.  Also one of the things that has stood out to me about her shop is that she sells weapon poses!!!!  She won me over with her Gunslinger poses and then again with her Katana poses.  Here are a few snaps of poses I especially love.  ^^  Oh, and the pose from previous fishing post is also by Sai!

Gone Fishin’

I’ll admit, I get pretty bored in Second Life… and I can only change my clothes so many times in a session lol.  So I finally decided to give this 7Seas fishing game thing a try.  (I know, I’m late to the party)  It’s pretty similar to fishing in WoW but oddly, it’s a lot more fun.  I even sprang for the create your own fishing area kit so I could fish on my own land since I spend the majority of my time online there anyways.  I think I’ll make a proper fishing area on my land and when I do I’ll let everyone know so you can come down and give it a whirl. :)

I’ve had a rough past few weeks.  Between some sad RL issues and some WoW drama I’m just mentally wiped out.  There’s so much I’ve been meaning to get done in SL but I’ve just been consumed lately.  I finally had a few minutes to log in and actually change my avatar’s clothes!  And since I’m in a fairly angry kind of mood, I think my look kinda reflected that.   Hopefully once the drama sorts itself out I’ll be back to blogging and what not.  Until then, I’m still around.. just kinda tired and bitchy so beware. :D

16 Random things about Me:

1. Cereal is probably my favorite food.

2. I don’t like to watch movies because I can’t make the time committement to sit through an entire one. I get fidgety.

3. I have two very spoiled dogs.

4. I downloaded the Handsome Furs leak and I don’t feel bad about it. I had already pre-ordered the album.

5. I have a weird fear of water that I can’t see the bottom of.

6. I’m extremely shy. It’s been a huge problem for me and continues to plague me still. Over everything in life, it’s what I battle the most everyday. It also bleeds into my online persona.

7. I am perpetually hot and have to keep the air down to 60 to be anywhere near comfortable.

8. I play World of Warcraft pretty much every evening with my husband and a slew of my family and rl friends.  Gaming gets such a bad rap and it annoys me because WoW plays such a huge part in keeping me in touch with friends and family I’ve moved away from.

9. My desk is extremely messy and it drives me nuts but no matter how I try to clean it up, it is messy within a few hours.

10. I might have a small crush on Spencer Krug. It’s fan girly and super geeky, but his music has really changed me.

11. I love watching the Food Network but I don’t cook very often.

12. I own a ton of makeup but I usually end up using the same couple of products.

13.  I try to write as often as possible but I have to be in the zone, right music, right temperature of the room, etc. I mostly do short stories, but I’ve dipped my pen into everything from erotica to technical manuals. I’d just like to say that my poor blogging is not reflective of my usual writing. :P

14. If I could get away with it, my hair would always be an outrageous color.

15.  I sometimes will listen to the same song on repeat all day for a few days. When I love something I can get a little obsessive.

16. I curse like a sailor and I’m particularly fond of the f-word. I also have amazing self restraint. :P

I told my husband I had steampunked his avatar and made him log in to see what I’d come up with so we could snap a few pics. Well while he didn’t do much more than stand there and provide some tasty arm candy, I’d say it was quite steamy… until he teleported away to go explore some Star Trek sim. :P I really loved these outfits and I think we’ll be sporting them for a while.  I also would like to express my love for OMFG and all the awesome, awesome steampunk goodness for only L$ 1.  So cool!

Springy LoTD

I haven’t been around much lately.. my wrists have been killing me so I’m trying to scale back my computer usage. Which has been freakin’ ridiculously hard to do. I never realized how much time I spend with the computer even in my free time.

Seams have been my nemesis everytime I’ve gone to try to make clothes. I decided to try something easy instead of going for something complicated like a shirt and pants (which I’ve done in the past and failed miserably). So I made some knee socks. And they turned out pretty decent so I put together an outfit to go with them.  I had grabbed this cute sundress last month but with all the snowy wintery goodness I held off on wearing it until the virtual snow melted. :P
