Today was WoW’s 4th birthday and Blizzard sent everyone who logged in today a Baby Blizzard Bear pet and it’s adorable. I had to take a little screenshot of it next to my blood elf hunter’s bear pet.
And just cause this is a WoW post, I’ll throw in some other screenshots.. the first one is of the Howling Fjord and the others are of the instance, The Nexus. The Nexus rocks, it’s super short and very easy.
I was pretty happy with the way my Szemra mod turned out yesterday so I decided to play around a bit with the templates again today and try my hand at more of an everyday skin. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to recreate the goth skin tone that I’ve used previously but I gave it a shot and while it’s not spot on the shade I used in my Eloh mods I rather like it. It’s a little less stark. Of course I’ve only really played around on the test grid for it, but I might “live” with it on the main grid for a bit to decide if it’s a keeper or not. So anyhoo, here’s some pics of the modded versions I made today.

I haven’t really felt like doing any skins lately.. not sure why but I was lacking inspiration. But today I fired up Photoshop and did something a little bit different. I did this skin using Szemra Svarog’s templates instead of the Eloh Eliot templates I’ve used on my previous skins. I hadn’t really worked too much with Szemra’s templates because they aren’t really on layers and my Photoshop skills are pretty novice so I didn’t think I could do much to customize the original ones.. but I gave it a shot anyways and here is the result. I have to say, I’m pretty in love with the body. I just made a few little tweaks but I’m really looking forward to testing more with this template. A huge thank you to Szemra for providing such a wonderful learning tool. If it wasn’t for amazingly talented and awesome people like her and Eloh I certainly would never have begun to attempt my hand at Photoshop. :D
And yus, I lurve these cloven hooves from Lazy Places, they are the awesome!

I’ve been playing the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion since I picked my Collector’s Edition (squeee!!) up on Thursday and it’s amazing. Absolutely awesome. It’s no secret I <3 WoW but I’m just floored at how beautifully rendered it is. The zones are quite large and the way they look adds to this massive feeling you get riding through them. Sure, I’m still only level 70 while there are already a few level 80s running around on my server.. but I’m taking my time to explore and just really immerse myself into the game. There’s a decidedly darker feeling in this expansion pack as you make your way through the start areas.. sure there are the usual silly things but I like this slightly less fantasy take on the game. I actually was really taken aback at how emotional I felt doing some of the quests in the Howling Fjord. So far my favorite zone is definitely Crystalsong Forest. It is just stunning and the music is so beautiful. I could spend all day sitting at Windrunner’s Overlook staring into the forest. It’s geeky, but I really felt calm and serene here…. even though I was chased by every mob in the general area lol. :P

After yesterday’s unfortunate little crap fest, I was left with a rather unpleasant taste in my mouth and I’m a little turned off by SL right now. I’d go into the gory details but suffice it to say, I’m constantly surprised by the lack of tact people have when they have a perceived sense of anonymity. I don’t know why I’m still surprised by it, but I am. At any rate, I was pretty upset and even though I’m slightly less so today, I’m still pretty effing pissed. So I decided it was time for a little break from SL just to kinda get away from it all. I have a little rule, when something I do in my free time becomes tedious and is no longer fun, I stop doing it for a while. And that’s what I’m going to do. I’m not going to quit SL or anything and really this time off is just kinda to ensure I don’t do anything rash. And anyways, Wrath of the Lich King releases tonight at midnight and I have a four day weekend ahead of me just begging for a WoW-a-thon! Wewt! Though I suspect, all it will take is a sale to get me back into SL. :P

Well it’s been a year since I dipped my pixel toes into SL for the first time. It’s been an adventure.. sometimes good, sometimes bad, occasionally weird. But overall, it’s been a blast. I really credit SL for getting me in touch with my more creative side and for that, it will always hold a special little spot for me. I really hadn’t had much opportunity to express myself creatively and SL has kinda pushed me to try to learn new things and that’s been really awesome. And I’ve also met some very awesome, super creative and just all around fantastic people.. and that’s saying a lot because I’m horrifyingly shy. So happy rezday to me and I hope I’m still here blogging away in another year. :D

I’m mourning the loss of my Retribution Paladin to the the mighty Blizzard nerf bat. /cry I haven’t really loved the Paladin class much at all in the past but I resolved to get her to 70 and it was an uphill battle the whole way. I was Ret for a good bit of the time I was leveling before speccing Protection which made me a decent tank in a pinch. I actually like Pally tanks quite a bit as a healer because I can bubble them. But because my other toons received far more love from me my Pally has never had the best gear so I typically would tank with my Druid. Anyways, long story short, I was just pwning face with my Paladin after I specced Ret again and it was so fun to actually do some serious DPS, even if I was only in a smattering of blues mixed with a few welfare epics. So I am in a deep melancholy over these nerfs. I knew they were coming, but omfg, the nerf to Divine Storm, give me a break!! This is going to make leveling to 80 an absolute pain. I am a sad panda today.
So as a farewell to my dead Paladin.. I made my version of a Paladin in SL. Just in an effort to keep this QQ post somewhat SL related.. and it gave me an excuse to wear this badass outfit from BareRose and awesome horns from Illusions. Yeah, I know, I don’t look like any Paladin in WoW but this is what I wish my Paladin looked like. :P I hope the outfit from BareRose comes out in more colors, it just might be my favorite outfit from there. Oh, I also want to mention the sword, it’s from Tekeli-li which, imho, makes the absolute best weaponry in SL. They are unscripted but I’m not doing epic battle so that’s fine by me. And the prices are absolutely insanely low, especially for the incredible detail, color change options and beauty that you receive. I should also mention that their customer service is top notch. I recently purchased a halbard from OnRez and Tekelili sent me a message letting me know the items were for sale in the shop and promptly refunded me the difference! That is just too cool and so above and beyond the call of duty. :D

I decided to be a Druid today…. mostly inspired by the AWESOME new horns Siyu Suen of Illusions released the other day. I had a hard time deciding which ones to pick up and I’m sure I’ll be back again. I have a thing for horns and I’ve usually paired them up with kind of a darker look but today I decided to go for a more woodland inspired thing. But I am terrible at writing sometimes so I’ll let the pictures do the talking. At the bottom of the post I have a better picture of the horns and all the options they come with! :D
