Hat!

I saw a picture on AlterEgo Trip Svenska’s Flickr stream about wanting a goblin hat in SL and I knew somewhere in the depths of my inventory I had a hat that kinda was like that.. and sure enough I found a Knitted Hat from Onigiri (formerly Inspired.) It’s sooooo cute! I love how the little ears on top of the hat are flexi so they kinda flap about as I move, adorable! But omg, what a pain trying to fit hair under there lol. That’s a problem with any hat that doesn’t have the hair built in but on the same token, it gives the wearer the flexibility to pick their own hair to wear. I butchered this hair from ETD to cram it under there lol. Yay for copy permissions. And a little spot of shameless self promotion, I now have a subscriber kiosk right outside my main store in Blackmount! And best of all, joining my group won’t count against your 25! Woot!

I can’t log into SL for some unknown and very obnoxious reason so no slurls here.. and I can’t remember where the pants are from so as soon as I am able to get on, I’ll post that as well.

Fun with Windlight

Since I couldn’t TP anywhere.. or change clothes… or build anything.. or anything.. I decided to play with Windlight. I was stuck wearing my ultra bright radioactive facelamp instead of my more subtle one so you can definitely see how a bright lamp can blow out your face. Most of these settings are Torley Linden presets. If I hadn’t been so super lazy, I would have labeled them… but I really am super lazy. OMG, the new ears from Illusions. They are beyond awesome. Seriously, I haven’t stopped turning my computer screen over to my husband and going, “OMG, aren’t these the most awesome ears you’ve ever seen???!!?” He agreed the first 10 times and now just ignores me. :P I saw Siyu’s post recently about releasing new ears and awaited them with bated breath. And let me tell you, these lived up to my every expectation and then some. The piercings are gorgeous, the ears are beautifully constructed and the options are glorious. I love all the jewelry color options as well as all the skin tones!! Siyu Suen is truly a genius artist. I look at these ears as pieces of art and they are just a pleasure to wear and look at. Straight out of the box, no custom texture, these ears almost perfectly match the Drow skin I had been working on recently. I had to take her out for a spin to show them off so we went to La Reve. I’m still trying not to pull my hair out when working with Windlight. It’s a love/hate relationship for me. I did end up turning off atmospheric shaders to take a few non-Windlight photos to really show off the ears. On to the pics. I’m pretty much perpetually late to the party and it looks like I’m late to the Wrong party. I picked these capris and top up during the last Wrong sale and am just now getting around to blogging them. But when I was searching for a landmark I found out they are closed ’til further notice which is a bit of a bummer. But I already took the pic so I’m gonna blog it anyways! Sleepless

I haven’t been sleeping well lately. To parrot a commercial for a popular sleep aid.. I have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. So I did what any person having trouble sleeping might do, I fired up Photoshop and put huge dark eye bags on a skin. Plus some chapped lips for fun. In my defense, I was bored and tired. Bad mix.

Boots!

I saw these boots from Bukka on Sai Pennell’s Blog and had to have them. They are so freaking cute! I love how realistic these look… they remind me of my favorite pair of Doc Marten hiking boots I had in college. (You know, all that hiking from the dorm across the street to class requires a good pair of hiking boots.) The legwarmers are also changeable with a blue menu which really gives them lots of options. I splurged and bought them in all 3 colors since I see myself wearing these almost all the time. I have a tendency to latch on a pair of shoes and just wear the heck out of them.

In other news, I continued to play around with the sky settings and well, I still think I look too ashen.. and it’s a little dark. But it’s a start. At least I don’t look like Homer Simpson. Oh and I was bored.. so I got a little over crazy with the photoshop editing. Kinda looks terrible now but I’m too lazy to fix it. :P

Rambles

I love what Windlight does for the landscape…. but I abhor what it does to my avatar’s face. >.< I have to admit I’m feeling frustrated with it right now. My super pale goth skin that I typically favor looks blown out and hideous in just about all settings where the sky looks great. Another problem with a very pale skin tone is that you tend to take on the color of whatever setting you choose. I also have a weirder tiny lip shape I like to wear as well but omg, I can’t even describe the horrendousness that the shadows cast have on me. Forget a face light, I’m a enormous glowing orb with even the most pale face light. But without one, I’m bordering Homer Simpson. And back on lips, if I decide to use a skin sans lipstick, I look terrible. Is it obvious that I’ve spent the last hour trying to take some screenshots but that I ended up scraping them all because they sucked? Either my avatar needs a serious tan, a lip job and basically a Barbie makeover.. or I need to spend more time trying to create a decent sky setting that flatters me. *le sigh* All that means work. :P

Edit: Well, after a bit of playing, I found if I keep the ambient settings kinda on the low side it keeps my avatar from taking too many shadows. It’s a start I suppose.

Fantasy

I had been wanting to do a picture spread that was pure fantasy and inspired by my love of World of Warcraft and I finally did it. This is my Second Life version of a Draenei.
