No One Saves The Day

Staying away from Second Life has been far harder than I had anticipated… I really can’t shirk some IMs and things, which is proving to be costly because every time I log in I decide I need new hair from Deviant Kitties. >.< I really don’t have much to say today… it was a pretty quiet day all together. Once again, I took a song literally and then went off on a wild tangent. It’s my new favorite thing to do.

I’ve gone crazy in a maze…

Sometimes the weirdest things give me inspiration. I had to deal with a bi… er… let’s just call her a less than savory individual yesterday and it really got my blood boiling. But I’ll spare you the diatribe related to this particular conversation. The weird part came from the fact that I’d put on Wolf Parade’s “Wits or a Dagger” to listen to (on repeat) right before this happened and because the conversation went ON AND FREAKING ON, I wasn’t able to get over to stop the song from repeating itself over and over so the whole while I was reading this individual’s “issues” I kept hearing the same song. I took the song quite literally after a while. I couldn’t find a labyrinth that I liked so I made one. And, as per usual, picture intensive… and looks better large.

I was lusting after the Thursday hair from Gritty Kitty and I decided to treat myself since I’ve been sick. :P I’m finally feeling better though! :D I’m sure you’ve seen this hair everywhere and that’s because it is absolutely awesome. One of the big problems with wearing hats in SL is prim hair has to be modded within an inch of it’s prim life to fit under a hat and that’s a lot of work. Here, the work is done for you! Yay! And omg, the options.. everything from the hat band to the individual feathers is scripted to change colors. As soon as that hair hit my head I felt like I was a character in the television series, Firefly. If you haven’t heard of it, it was a short lived Joss Whedon series on Fox and it’s a must see.. especially if you are at all into sci-fi or westerns because it’s meshes the two genres into one very entertaining bundle. So I kinda threw on a mix of my typical steampunk look and some wild frontier together, blared some Abney Park (beware, music on that page usually starts playing immediately) and went over to Plunder to take some pictures. And per usual, I had a hard time parring things down, so there’s a ton of pictures. :D I just adore this look.. I’ll probably be wearing it for a while just because I feel like a bad ass airship pirate in it. XD Oh and in other good news, I found OMFG’s stuff on SL Exchange! Wewt!!

Second Life affords me the ability to play dress up on a really grand scale. If nothing else, this has by far been the reason why I keep coming back. The ability to morph my avatar into just about anything is very tantalizing.

I started the look with the skin which I basically did just as a way to use some awesome crack brushes I found on Deviant Art… I’ll hunt down a link and try to throw it in later. My husband always tries to throw suggestions at me for things to do and he had said something about Salem Witch Trials. Well, that seemed like it wouldn’t exactly translate to a skin so I went with an “After” theme which can really be translated however you like. I started out with the Minerva Witch’s Hat from Illusions.. another stunning piece of work from Siyu Suen and the catalyst for the whole outfit. I probably spent hours scouring the grid to find an outfit that gave off the air I wanted it to when I went back to BareRose for the umpteenth time and saw this outfit named “Stheno” and knew that was the one. Throw on some accessories and here you are.

The first picture is probably my favorite shot ever. I did minimal processing to it because it just came out really neat straight up from the game. And yeah, I got a pretty big kick out of using two “Cute” poses for this set. ^.~ As always, click the pictures to get to my Flickr page where you can view them larger where they look much better. :D

BBBC Wrap Up

BBBC Final Question: What did you get out of this whole experience? Do you think this will change how you blog in the future?

I really had a good time with this challenge. While I wasn’t exactly slacking on posts prior to the challenge it was fun to try and post everyday… which I failed, but I was sick. :P The best part of the challenge for me was definitely discovering new people and their awesomesauce blogs! I love seeing all those new blogs in my reader! I also got a chance to admit my blog stalkerness to the world.

Will the challenge change the way I blog? That’s likely. I’m very quiet and super shy so I rarely throw myself into situations that require me to communicate with people so my blog has always been a way for me to throw some random thoughts into one semi cohesive mass to communicate for me and overcome my social awkwardness. And of course, I throw in pictures to really glue the whole mess together. I probably will post a little bit more often but the main difference in blogging will be a slight shift from the fashion-centric blog I had before. I enjoyed doing a few more “personalized” posts during the challenge. Sure, the outfits and pictures in previous posts are definitely personal to me because they reflect little aspects of myself in some way or another… but I’d like to do things that kinda light up my creative side more and maybe share a few little tidbits about myself in the process.

BBBC Day 7

Day 7: Blogger’s Choice. You pick something that’s important to you to talk about!

Well.. that’s a broad topic. :P Something that’s been on my mind lately.. thus making it important is the impending release of Wolf Parade’s new album. They are my most favorite band ever ever. I’m definitely a crazed fan girl when it comes to them. And since I was listening to some of the new tracks today I decided to make a Wolf Parade shirt for my avatar to wear in SL. Yus, I’m a geek.

So alongside the Wolf Parade tee I thought I’d lump some of my favorite things all into one picture. I have a thing for goggles and these new goggles I grabbed from ::69:: are my new favorites. I also <3 facial piercings. If you’ve seen my previous pictures, I’m rarely without them. So I saw that Electro Kitty had a new piercing available and it had so many options so I had to get it. I played around with them and kinda set up my favorite pairings together. I also love jeans and these are my favorite pair of jeans in SL, they are from League. And of course, my beloved chucks from Akeyo. This might be the closest I’m able to get my avatar to looking like my actual self… down to the hair actually which is that shade of pinky black right now. :D So now you know way too much about me. O.o

Barely Lucid

I’m still sick… though I’m feeling just the slightest bit better.. but I am hopped up on meds so that may be clouding my judgment tricking me into thinking I feel better than I actually am.. which is fine by me! I hadn’t planned to log into SL today but I ended up having to take care of a few botched transactions so since I was already on I was lured to the 50% off sale at ::69:: The sale is only on today so get there while it’s still going on.. and be sure to check out the Succubus Pumps which are, by far, my pick for my favorite heels in SL. Even though I have almost all the shoes from ::69::, I couldn’t resist buying a cute pair of boots and a sweet pair of goggles before calling it a day.

BBBC Day 1

Ok, I’m an admitted secret admirer/stalker/gawker of many SL bloggers. I’m wowed by their creativity, taste, writing skills and total kyootness. I don’t know how you all do it! As soon as I set out to write my blog I almost always hit a writer’s block and end up going, OMG, I lurve this. But anyways, I’m starting to hit that wall so I better get to the point before I keep blathering. One of my favorite bloggers to secretly admire is Alicia Chenaux. Her blogs are really fun to read and always interesting. So when she issued the challenge to bloggers to update daily, well, I thought I’d give it a shot… sure, only a handful of people know my blog exists, but oh well, I’m gonna do it anyways. ^^

So I’ll start with the question of the day which was:
“Why did you decide to start blogging about your Second Life?”

I started my original blog within just a short time of entering Second Life. Once I figured out how to make myself not look like a Orientation Island reject (which I actually was as I got dumped in some random sim, very far away from Orientation Island, left to fend for myself), I really wanted to have a spot to show screenshots of the game and share some of my thoughts, finds, and random thoughts. I was really inspired by all the blogs I came across when I googled random SL related things and thought a blog would be the perfect spot to catalog my journey. I didn’t expect to keep up with it as my history with blogs is pretty bad, I’ve left many a blog abandoned to the wayside. But I’d say this one is here to stay. :D But my big thing with this blog is really to show pics of cool stuff… so here’s a random pic I dug out of my screenshots folder to end the post with. :D

Fallen Fae

I have to apologize in advance, I’m addicted to filters. I don’t think I’ve posted much of anything that hasn’t been filtered within an inch of it’s pixel life… and well, that’s probably going to continue. :P

I kinda went with a Fae edging into darkness thing here but didn’t quite hit it the way I wanted to so I think I’ll rework this same theme sometime in the future. I made a pink skin forever ago but never really found a good opportunity to wear it so I thought this was a good time to toss it on and add a shot of color to my monochromatic color scheme. I still <3 my Elf ears from Illusions.. the best part, I can tint them to match whichever crazy colored skin I might be wearing since Siyu included a “white” color option that is perfect for tinting. I luff Siyu Suen. ^^ Oh and happy winged loveliness is from Seven’s Selections. And of course, all this winged fairyness was the perfect excuse to use the Faery Goodness pose set from LAP.

On an unrelated note, I’m unusually busy IRL so my posts may be sporadic.. though I can’t stay away too long. ;)

Two Guns

Sai Pennell’s Gunslinger Poses were the inspiration for this picture spread. She makes awesome poses!! And, drool, how cool are the Redemption Pistols from C-Tech? I’m simply amazed at the the detail and the options, and well, everything, they are pretty freakin’ awesome. I have had my eye on Refuge’s Brood outfit since it came out and finally decided, yus, must have. The textures are fabulous and I’m a sucker for long coats. It does come with it’s own top (which is awesome) but I wanted something a bit.. well, skimpier, so I used a freebie bikini top from Shai. So yes, there you have it. Picture crazy time. And since Flickr is being annoying I’ve also posted these over on Koinup just in case all you see are red x’s. >.<
