Or another time sink for me! If you’ve seen my Flickr feed lately it was inundated with screenshots from the Aion open beta. Sorry! I went a little screenshot happy. After seeing Sai Pennell’s amazing screens, I decided to give the game a shot and I’m glad I did because I found it to be immensely enjoyable. While it isn’t necessarily ground breaking in the MMO world, it’s fun and it has amazing graphics and that’s good enough for me. I really can’t say enough how awesome the graphics are, the game is just visually stunning. Also the characters are incredibly detailed and there is a really large amount of ways you can customize your character. In this game the characters are all basically the same base race of Humans so you’d think everyone would look the same, but not so, with the customization nearly all the toons are very unique. From hair color to height, just about every facet of your character’s appearance are customizable. And of course, that won me over immediately because I’m a sucker for a pretty character. I actually quit playing Warhammer fairly soon because of the hideous characters. They lacked detail and were just plain fug. The game was a tad bit boring as well and not having well designed characters was the nail in the coffin for me. Next to the character selection screen the other stand out of Aion was the ability to change channels within your own server. I’m anti-social and a bit of a hermit so I like to solo and explore and adventure on my own quite a bit and being able to swap to a less populated channel is amazing. Especially when doing obnoxious gathering quests and the like. This was a huge selling point for me. Besides these two things, Aion is your typical fantasy MMO fodder and if you’ve played and enjoyed WoW or Warhammer or just about anything else, you’ll likely find something to enjoy here as well. If you decide to play, let me know, as of right now I’m rolling Asmodian on Triniel and Elyos on Lumiel and likely on Zikel, assuming they don’t shut that server down again. I’d love to see some more SL faces roaming about the Aion landscape. :D

I spent most of the long weekend playing WoW. I’ve been grinding away for a while trying to get The Loremaster achievement and after some massive questing, it’s mine! Thanks to awesome guildies who came through in a pinch to help me finish out some group quests I just couldn’t solo. Yay for friends! But all the questing has taken it’s toll, I’m seriously WoWed out. So I took a break last night and did a little shopping and picked up this stunning new ensemble from Silent Sparrow. I agonized over the color choice.. but in the end, purple won out! One of the things that really stood out for me is the slightly worn and dusty edges to the skirt, such a neat little detail. Yeah, my picture is kinda dorky, blame it on my being up all night and not exactly super lucid.

All’s Quiet

Today was my first day alone in two weeks, I even sent my husband out to go play with friends so I could have some “me” time. It felt nice, quiet and just the teeniest bit lonely. Unfortunately the reasons behind my full house weren’t exactly happy ones but despite that, it was nice seeing my fam again but I think we all were quite happy to get back to our regularly scheduled programs. I’m hoping I’ll be able to jump back into SL a bit more now that home life has settled down a bit. :D

Another entry into my Winged/Wicked things category…. I’ve played with a great many looks in SL but the one I find myself consistently gravitating towards more and more these days is the demon look. I like representing a darker shade of myself in SL and what can I say, I really like horns. And Ruina’s foray into horns has made me all giddy! ^^;

I finally got a chance to hit the hair fair and one of my favorite styles I picked up was Alethia from SLink. Once I stumbled through the directions on how to choose a color for my new hair I was good to go. I’m not especially good with instructions and I really just revert into a toddler whenever I have to read them.. but I managed even though I never was able to actually drop it on the ground, so I partly blame SL for screwing with me. But on the whole, I really like the idea SLink has put into play with their hair, you get to choose the combo of 1, 3 or 5 haircolors and pick your own pack which I really appreciate.

And I think I’m finally getting on the mend from my cold/flu/grossness… I still am tired beyond all get out, but for the most part I’m over the worst of it, I hope anyways!

VSM Quick!

Last week I had one of the most amazing days of my life… I got to see Sunset Rubdown live and I’m still all warm and glowy from it… even though about two and half seconds after I got home from said day I became sick with who knows what manner of flu/cold/grossness. At any rate, those two things combined have been the reason behind my absence but I’m tentatively back. I’m not feeling 100% yet but I’m getting there. Anyone know a home remedy for clearing up a stuffy ear? I’ve been trying decongestants but at the moment they aren’t doing anything and this is the most annoying feeling.

All that aside, I did have a reason behind this blog and it was to give a last minute notice that the Vendor Support Month event ends tonight so if there was anything you absolutely wanted from it, best go now! Here were two of my favorites, the piercing from Ommik and the necklace from Otaku. Some other highlights are the skins and t-shirts from The Stringer Mausoleum, the dress from +++BLUE BLOOD+++, the cute pose set from Piffou! and of course my skins/cami set at {Frick}! BBBC – Wrap Up Post

Did you find this year to be harder or easier than last year? Did you enjoy yourself? Do you think you’d do it again?

I love the challenge because it’s just that, a challenge. I don’t normally blog everyday unless something huge is up so it really takes a lot to sit down and find the time to do some blogging, even if the topic has already been laid out for me. As to whether it was easier or not this year, it was actually a little bit harder but not really for any particular reason other than I was busier than normal this week so it was some work trying to fit in the time to blog. Will I do it again? Absolutely!

Today is a free post…

I finally have my beloved bubble chairs.. sorta. I won them on my husband’s avatar because, seriously, F never effing comes up on that thing. Perhaps it has been programmed out. But at least K came up and it’s certainly better than not having them at all. I have a thought on Lucky Chairs… for the love of all things F, please, please allow for wildcards.. even if it’s a very low chance for wildcards, at least that would be something. Or if you don’t want to do that, put the item up for sale. I swear, I would have bought those things 10x over if they had been for sale. So there’s my plea. Do it for the F’s. ^^

BBBC Day 3

You’ve been given a sim of your very own to use for free for one year. However, there are 3 rules. It cannot be residential, it cannot be commercial, and it has to be open to the public. What do you do with it?

I’d love to make a sim inspired by the landscapes in World of Warcraft. I know, it’s geeky… but some of the places in WoW are just stunning and lovely and I’ve always wished there were areas like the Isle of Quel’Danas, Teldrassil and Crystalsong Forest to visit in Second Life. It seems like post-apocalyptic, grungy and beach sims are a dime a dozen in SL and there really aren’t enough beatiful sims. I’d love the sim to have lots of little vignettes, little photo op areas, little nooks and crannies to escape to and even if there were a lot of people there you could find a little spot to call your own for an evening. I’d want it to be one of those places that everytime you visit it you find something new that makes you gasp. This sim would also have an abundance of water areas, above and below the water because water looks so beautiful in SL and I’d love to see it used as more than an ocean off the coast of some boring old beach. And even if you are totally unfamiliar with WoW you could still appreciate the beauty there. ^^

Yay, it’s the return of Alicia Chenaux‘s Big Bad Blogger Challenge! I really enjoyed doing these posts last year as well as exploring the other blogs of others who were participating. I was introduced to several new blogs that I still read today.

Alicia’s topic for today was: How long have you been a blogger? How has it enriched your life?

I’ve blogged in various forms for maybe 3 or so years but I’ve been at this particular blog since Decemberish ’07. I started it as a way to chronicle my little adventures in Second Life and to show off some of the snapshots I’d taken in the game. This blog has evolved somewhat since then and has become more of an outlet for my own personal expression. The blog is still mostly about Second Life but I throw in a few posts about World of Warcraft here and there as well as posts about my own personal trials and travails as I’ve gotten into the world of creating. Blogging has provided a much needed outlet for me to just jot down what I’m up to.. no matter how interesting or mundane that might be. Just the process of writing things down for future reflection, reference or what have you is very cathartic for me and that’s probably one of the main things that has me coming back to it even after the occasional break. At any rate, that’s my spiel for today!

Oh yeah, I like to post snapshots of my avatar. ^^;

Re-Vengeance

I’ve been revamping my “scary” skins for a while and I think I’m finally done so I hope to get the vendors made soon and get those suckers out there. While I was screwing around with them I took this snapshot and I loved how it showed off TSM’s Tenta hair in all it’s luscious glory so I had to share it! :D
