My WoW accounts were hacked

*Update! – After some doing, both of my accounts have been restored!  Woot!… Also, moral of the story, buy an authenticator. :)

Both of my World of Warcraft accounts were hacked last night. Everything I had is gone.  I’ve been playing for four years and had 6 level 80s.  Four years gone in the blink of an eye.  They stole it all.  And what they couldn’t sell they deleted.  It’s like I’ve lost a part of myself.  Most people won’t understand.. to them it’s just a game and I should just get over it, it’s just pixels after all… but while this may be pixel theft, it’s still theft and I’ve really lost something that I put time and effort into.  I lost gear that isn’t even attainable any longer….  I lost all of my gold… all my vanity items..  Everything.  I’ve been crying for hours… I’m truly heartbroken.  I won’t know until Monday if there is anything that Blizzard can do to fix this.. but  if they can’t fix it, I don’t think I can bring myself to play again.

Aion

Or another time sink for me!  If you’ve seen my Flickr feed lately it was inundated with screenshots from the Aion open beta.  Sorry!  I went a little screenshot happy.  After seeing Sai Pennell’s amazing screens, I decided to give the game a shot and I’m glad I did because I found it to be immensely enjoyable.  While it isn’t necessarily ground breaking in the MMO world, it’s fun and it has amazing graphics and that’s good enough for me.  I really can’t say enough how awesome the graphics are, the game is just visually stunning.  Also the characters are incredibly detailed and there is a really large amount of ways you can customize your character.  In this game the characters are all basically the same base race of Humans so you’d think everyone would look the same, but not so, with the customization nearly all the toons are very unique.  From hair color to height, just about every facet of your character’s appearance are customizable.  And of course, that won me over immediately because I’m a sucker for a pretty character.  I actually quit playing Warhammer fairly soon because of the hideous characters.  They lacked detail and were just plain fug.  The game was a tad bit boring as well and not having well designed characters was the nail in the coffin for me.  Next to the character selection screen the other stand out of Aion was the ability to change channels within your own server.  I’m anti-social and a bit of a hermit so I like to solo and explore and adventure on my own quite a bit and being able to swap to a less populated channel is amazing.  Especially when doing obnoxious gathering quests and the like.  This was a huge selling point for me.  Besides these two things, Aion is your typical fantasy MMO fodder and if you’ve played and enjoyed WoW or Warhammer or just about anything else, you’ll likely find something to enjoy here as well.  If you decide to play, let me know, as of right now I’m rolling Asmodian on Triniel and Elyos on Lumiel and likely on Zikel, assuming they don’t shut that server down again.  I’d love to see some more SL faces roaming about the Aion landscape. :D

The sounds of WoW

If you play WoW, you’ve probably made your way over to the new Argent Tournament area.  It’s all good fun and the mounted jousting is pretty rad, but what really caught my fancy was the fantastic music in the area.  I’m an absolute nerd for good music.  From the epic jousting event tune to the lilting melodies that fill the air as you wander the grounds, it’s really excellent.  I am particularly fond of the music for the jousting matches, they really put me into the spirit.  I’m not an RP’er by any stretch of the imagination and I have to admit, I chuckle at my husband whenever he gets all into his RP mode but the music in WoW and especially the music found in WoTLK really lend to the whole experience of playing the game.  I get more of a sense of the lore and what my character is truly trying to accomplish in the frozen north.  So next time you go in game, turn up your volume and go for a tour of the world and really listen to what the game has to offer you.  Also, if you’d like to hear the tournament music at any time during game, just use these scripts to hear them.  :D

Why, hello there!

Zomg, it’s been a month since I last posted here.  I remembered today that I had a blog.  I partly blame my ongoing computer woes for my lack of posts and also that I’ve been alternately either very busy or very lazy.  Also, the last few weeks have seen back to back world events in WoW and nothing gets me going like achievement mania!  The PvP achievement during Children’s Week nearly put me over the edge though with it’s difficulty and annoyance and I threatened several times to quit WoW and cancel my multiple accounts.  There was much QQ from me in guild chat and Plurk so for that, I apologize.  And yes, I really did cry, lame I know, but I was really frustrated and annoyed.  In the end, it ended up being far less difficult than I had thought (thanks to help from my uber PvPer friends and my hubby) and between myself, my sister and my husband we managed to complete it on my three 80’s, my sister’s 80, my dad’s two 80’s and my husband’s 80.  Violet Proto-drake, here we come!  Luckily there’s a break in world events until the end of June so I can catch my breath for a while!

Noble Garden

My paladin and hunter in their festive Noble Garden garb, complete with frisky bunnies procreating in the background.  Sorry for the crappy look to this screenshot, I’ve had to turn my graphics settings way down to keep the game running. :(

Wrath Gate

I just finished the Wrath Gate quest line in Dragonblight and it was easily the most amazing and intense experience I’ve ever had in World of Warcraft. I did the Alliance version and I can’t wait to do the Horde version on my Blood Elf toon. It’s amazing, if you do nothing else in WoTLK, do this chain. I’m still a little emotional over it.

Btw, The cut scene is up on YouTube for those out there who want to horribly spoil themselves, just search for Battle of Angrathar the Wrath Gate.

Crystalsong Forest

I’ve been playing the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion since I picked my Collector’s Edition (squeee!!) up on Thursday and it’s amazing. Absolutely awesome. It’s no secret I <3 WoW but I’m just floored at how beautifully rendered it is. The zones are quite large and the way they look adds to this massive feeling you get riding through them. Sure, I’m still only level 70 while there are already a few level 80s running around on my server.. but I’m taking my time to explore and just really immerse myself into the game. There’s a decidedly darker feeling in this expansion pack as you make your way through the start areas.. sure there are the usual silly things but I like this slightly less fantasy take on the game.  I actually was really taken aback at how emotional I felt doing some of the quests in the Howling Fjord.  So far my favorite zone is definitely Crystalsong Forest.  It is just stunning and the music is so beautiful.  I could spend all day sitting at Windrunner’s Overlook staring into the forest.  It’s geeky, but I really felt calm and serene here…. even though I was chased by every mob in the general area lol.  :P

Ode to a dead Paladin

I’m mourning the loss of my Retribution Paladin to the the mighty Blizzard nerf bat. /cry I haven’t really loved the Paladin class much at all in the past but I resolved to get her to 70 and it was an uphill battle the whole way. I was Ret for a good bit of the time I was leveling before speccing Protection which made me a decent tank in a pinch. I actually like Pally tanks quite a bit as a healer because I can bubble them. But because my other toons received far more love from me my Pally has never had the best gear so I typically would tank with my Druid. Anyways, long story short, I was just pwning face with my Paladin after I specced Ret again and it was so fun to actually do some serious DPS, even if I was only in a smattering of blues mixed with a few welfare epics. So I am in a deep melancholy over these nerfs. I knew they were coming, but omfg, the nerf to Divine Storm, give me a break!! This is going to make leveling to 80 an absolute pain. I am a sad panda today.

So as a farewell to my dead Paladin.. I made my version of a Paladin in SL. Just in an effort to keep this QQ post somewhat SL related.. and it gave me an excuse to wear this badass outfit from BareRose and awesome horns from Illusions. Yeah, I know, I don’t look like any Paladin in WoW but this is what I wish my Paladin looked like. :P I hope the outfit from BareRose comes out in more colors, it just might be my favorite outfit from there. Oh, I also want to mention the sword, it’s from Tekeli-li which, imho, makes the absolute best weaponry in SL. They are unscripted but I’m not doing epic battle so that’s fine by me. And the prices are absolutely insanely low, especially for the incredible detail, color change options and beauty that you receive. I should also mention that their customer service is top notch. I recently purchased a halbard from OnRez and Tekelili sent me a message letting me know the items were for sale in the shop and promptly refunded me the difference! That is just too cool and so above and beyond the call of duty. :D

Albino Drake

I was in a pretty major funk today. One of my WoW pals moved out of the country today and probably will no longer be able to play which really, really sucks but hopefully he’ll be joining me in Second Life soon! But before he left we started feverishly working on the new achievements thing that came out in the last patch. After mass hemorrhaging of gold and rune cloth I managed to come away with the Ambassador title and the Leading the Calvary achievement which netted me the Albino Drake which is a pretty sick looking mount. :D So even though I was in a crappy mood, that lifted my spirits a little.  And omfg, wtb Headless Horseman’s Mount!  Three days worth of farming and NOTHING. *le sigh*
