Afternoon

Hey, another extended absence! Things have been not great. My last surviving precious dog passed away in early November. To say I took his loss hard would be an understatement. I shut down and spiraled into a pretty nasty bit of depression. When I finally surfaced, I decided it was time to move on and get myself another dog. Unfortunately, my new little addition has had one health problem after another. The poor thing hasn’t had a normal day since she came to us. I love the little booger but wow it’s been rough dealing with a sick dog on the heels of losing my last dog. Of course, when it rain it pours, and I’ve been sick myself for over two months. Add in a sprinkle of crippling anxiety and insomnia and you have the last few months around Casa Fricka.

Anyways, my apologies for vomiting up my RL onto you, gentle reader. Shall we get to real reason you are here.. SL and shopping. Halloween.. about the only time a year I can be guaranteed to put out a release in my shop. I completely forgot about Halloween this year. It wasn’t until I saw someone change their username to something spoopy that it dawned on me. In my defense, autumn is not a season that exists in my part of the world. We have various shades of summer pretty much year around. So whenever the people in cooler parts of the country are pulling on their sweaters, sipping their hot apple cider and waxing poetically about changing leaves… I’m still turning on my a/c, watching the snowbirds slowly come back to roost for the “winter” and ordering all of my beverages on ice. Anyways, you didn’t come here to hear me complain about how there’s no fall here. The gist of the story is that I remembered Halloween in time to make some Halloween things for my shop. Yay!

Crush

It’s no secret that I’m a total fangirl for hyasynth Tiramisu’s lovely tattoos. I’m always drawn in by her gorgeous illustrations and sumptuous use of color. Today’s post (July 3) features her tattoo offering for Fifty Linden Friday so make sure to pop over and grab it while you can. I’m also showing off a little faun leg today as well. These mesh legs are a collaboration between Trap’s Selos Dae and Gauze’s Yukio Ida and they are just fantastic. With the amazing HUD you can color these legs to match anything and as someone who constantly changes my look I totally appreciate that. I’d love to see them do some knee height legs in the future… because one can never have too many hoofed legs in their arsenal.

Bubbles Clawtooth Appreciation Challenge

I was touched when I saw Cajsa Lilliehook’s post about Bubbles Clawtooth recently. Bubbles is caring for his mother who suffers from ALS and his strength and grace during this difficult journey are nothing short of inspiring. To show Bubbles support and solidarity, Cajsa issued a challenge to bloggers to feature Bubbles’ glorious hairdos. I’m not much of a blogger but I really wanted to show my appreciation for Bubbles and how his amazing creativity makes my SL more quirky and beautiful. All in Your Mesh Head

Something I effing hate in SL is exclusivity. As a very, very small and unknown creator I’ve had a devil of a time trying to get dev kits. I’ve found if a designer doesn’t make their dev kit publicly available I’m pretty much out of luck. I’d love to make skins and goodies for all the amazing mesh body parts out there but because of brand exclusivity I’m often left out in the cold. And it sucks. Both for consumers and for creators. Maybe I’m naive but doesn’t it seem like the more stuff being created out there for your mesh whatever the more likely it will be to stay popular and sell? At some point I feel like consumers are going to tire of all looking the same. Eh, but what do I know. Luckily there are some wonderful brands out there who either have made their items Omega compatible or make their dev kits easily available. And my kudos to those brands because you folks rock.

That said, I thought I’d highlight one of those user/designer friendly brands and show off a head from Catwa. This is a newer head called Annie that is specially priced right now for Halloween. I did two different looks with the same head using skins I’ve already made and I think they look pretty rad right out of the box. I’m super excited to play around some more with this head and hopefully release some goodies in the future!

Swimsuit Issue

Today I’m showing off a new mesh bikini from Devae. I love the retro glam feel of it and just how shimmery and sparkly it is!

In other news, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Maitreya mesh body. I wasn’t sure I needed another mesh body and the price is certainly up there. But once I found out that Maitreya’s body is compatible with the Omega applier system I was sold. And, I love it. I love the shape and the hands and feet, the whole shebang. Definitely a worthy purchase.
